When looking for a good internet marketing consultant to do SEO work for you, there are some thing you should be aware of.

Invisible or hidden keyword rich text. That is done by making the text the same color as the background.

The casual visitors cannot read this, but the search engines crawlers or bots can read the text. But if the search engines find this out your web site will be taken off their ranking permanently.

Wrong submission

Some people think that submitting their web page using automatic submission software will get instant results. Some such packages promise submission to 500 search engines and more. Don’t fall for it! Such submission can be “spam”. In addition, there are at best, 8 – 10 good search engines that are worth the trouble of submitting to. You will only be wasting your time and money by using these useless submission software. It is better to concentrate on a few good search engines for good results.

Google has almost 60% of the search engine market. The rest is divided up between Yahoo and MSN. Sometime we will submit to a smaller search engine because it will give a site a good backlink, that Google will pick up on. There is a small segment of special search engines, but you don’t have to worry about them.

Doorway Pages

Some webmasters create doorway pages specifically for search engines and not for human visitors. They are not ethical, as they do not provide any information to the visitors. You might initially get very good ranking on the search engines but once your doorway pages are caught by the search engine, they will ban your web site forever.

Free for all Links

FFA links are a useful way to get listed on top of the search engines. However, don’t link to all kinds of FFAs.

Again, some FFA companies offer you huge number of links at a very low cost but watch out to which type of sites get linked to your site. Check the sites to which you are likely to get linked before you decide. If you do not take proper care before selecting a FFA, you might end up spending huge amounts with no results!

Not only that, you may get flagged by Google because you all of a sudden have over thousand non-relevant links to your site.
