Google’s Chrome browser is here! |
The “long hand” of Google also arrives in the market for browsers. In a move to surprise (only a few hours before the leak had advanced the event), the blog of Google announced that today the Beta Browser of Google will be issued in over 100 countries, codenamed ” Chrome”.
Google Chrome will compete in the browsers’ war with Microsoft Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox.
Chrome is believed to be faster, more stable and more secure than the alternatives and was designed specially for next-generation web content – such as video, web-based games, chat and internet banking.
Like Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome will be open source.
The browser is based on the Webkit project, rather than using code from Mozilla’s Firefox project, which has for a long time held a close association with Google.
“On the surface, we designed a browser window that is streamlined and simple… Under the hood, we were able to build the foundation of a browser that runs today’s complex web applications much better,” they said in a post on Google’s official blog.
Google said it will launch Chrome in 100 countries, but it will only be in beta in Windows (Google said Mac and Linux versions will be coming soon).
